Diagnosis

An explanation

for all the things you said but didn’t mean

An excuse

for all the things you didn’t do but meant to.

A diagnosis walks into your life

with an air of finality.

But just because

it came from a sterile room reeking of spirit and authority,

A header boasting jumbled alphabets in uppercase,

doesn’t mean you can’t use it

as nothing more than a writing prompt.

For what is it, if not a set of words on a piece of paper?
