Recipe video: How to make Jowar (Sorghum) Raita

The Japanese have their cherry blossom parties; Maharashtrians and Gujjus have their Hurda or Ponk parties. Unfortunately, most urban dwellers have no clue what this is. With the exception of a few pockets in the city, the tender sorghum kernels are not even seen.

In this new video, we have tried to (re)introduce the huda or ponk. If you live anywhere near Pune or Surat, I urge you to go and discover this dying social tradition.

Note: This is My Jhola’s first video shot outdoors, and with a voiceover. Tell us what you think!

What a beautiful tradition, thanks for capturing it Saee, you sounded really nice in the video, how about facing the camera?

Hey Saee! It was a pleasure to see another great video and hear your voice! The outdoor video has come out really well and your narration too was very crisp & clear. The only suggestion I have for you is to smile a little when you record your voice so it carries the happiness or positiveness you feel about the food you are narrating. Its difficult for me to explain but I know the difference it makes.

Thanks a lot for taking us to the fields and introducing us to Hurda. My husband had told me about it but I've never tasted or seen it before.

Very beautifully done but the background music drowns out your soft voice!
